Government’s Study Concludes Shared Pedestrian & Cycleway Feasible

3 December 2010

Minister for Roads, the Hon David Borger, issued a press release announcing the completion of the government’s feasibility study in to attaching a new shared pedestrian/cycleway onto the upstream (Log Cabin) side of the Victoria Bridge.

The study found it’s feasible to build a 2.5 metre walkway.

This is good news and contrasts starkly with the previous Minister for Roads’, The Hon Eric Roozendaal, unwillingness to consider any additions or modifications to the bridge for pedestrian and cyclist safety.

We call for the prompt release of the details of the feasibility study for review and consideration by the community.

Mr. Borger announced that he will “refer the project for consideration in the 2011/2012 Budget”
